Andrea Colliar, Clinical Counsellor

I'm really glad you're here.

I deeply believe in the innate power of healing and in each person's capacity to live the life they want. We all possess the capacity to heal and to create lives we once thought were beyond our reach.

Life can feel overwhelming at times, whether you're juggling work, school, relationships, or parenting. I offer a space where it’s safe to not have it all together, a space free of judgment, grounded in compassion and understanding. Here, you can explore, learn, reflect, and try new ways of being. We’ll navigate what’s weighing on you and work toward a greater sense of clarity, balance, and fulfillment.

A little bit about me...

I have been supporting individuals and families through difficulties with mental health such as anxiety & depression and life's challenges such as becoming a parent, relationship issues, and parenting differences for over 10 years. I began as a crisis call taker for mental health and suicide lines because I felt a calling to be there for people when they needed it the most. Now, for the past couple of years I have had the honour of working with individuals, couples, and families going through some of life's most difficult situations.

I am a mom of a wonderful boy, an avid reader, admittedly mostly about neuroscience and family systems stuff, and have been with my husband for well over a decade. I am a foodie who loves trying out new dishes and a doodler who loves to draw and paint.

I'm a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.

I completed my masters of education in Counselling Psychology at Simon Fraser University (2023) and my bachelor of arts with distinction, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Counselling and Human Development at Simon Fraser University.

Working together

My approach...

In our work together, creating a space that feels warm, safe, and free of judgment is my starting point. From there, we’ll collaborate to set goals that feel meaningful to you and figure out how to get there, at your pace. I often think of it like this: you're in the driver’s seat, and I’m in the passenger seat with a map. You decide where we’re going, and I’ll offer guidance, options, and help us notice things along the way.

I work with individuals, couples, and families facing challenges like trauma, emotional distress, and mental health struggles. My approach is holistic and flexible; I draw from a range of therapeutic models, always tailored to your unique needs. Healing takes courage and a deep sense of safety, and I aim to support both by helping you connect with your inner world—your emotions, your nervous system, your body. I value the connection we build and see it as key to creating a space where you feel safe to show up as your full, authentic self; even in the hard moments. You don’t have to go through it alone.

My foundation is trauma-informed, person-centred, neurodivergent-affirming, queer-affirming, and culturally competent. I focus on your strengths, resilience, and work together with you, to build a therapeutic relationship where you feel seen, heard, and trust in the work that we're doing.

I pull from therapies that incorporate staying attuned and empathetic to you. I believe in having a holistic approach to therapy by incorporating mindfulness, neuroscience, and somatic understandings of how to foster growth and healing. I work to understand you from a systems point of view, the systems that impact you such as society, your family, and important people in your life. Overall, I hope the folks that I work with experience feeling seen and heard from a compassionate listener, who helps them experience relief and clarity into the meaningful life they want to live.
